Flame Retardant Research and Application in Australia
Endowing polymeric materials with excellent flame retardancy is a vital factor for their practical applications in industry.This work aims to summarise the research and application of flame retardant materials in Australia in the past years.Many scientific researchers in universities, institutes and enterprises have been involved in the development of new generations of flame retardant materials, fire testing methods and their related products to date.The Australia government has also increased the investment in the flame retardancy research due to recent frequent fires happening to high-rise apartments and traditional timber-based buildings.In response to these fire hazards, many companies have also actively engaged in the development of flame retardant products to meet the needs for different applications.Nevertheless, much work needs to be further done for Australia to accelerate the innovation in the flame retardant research.
