Polyphosphazene based Multiple Nanostructures: a Novel Strategy for Enhancing the Flame Retardancy and Toxicity Suppression of Epoxy Resins
Several types of flame retardant functionalized polyphosphazenes and their based multiple nanostructures are synthesized, then polyphosphazene nanostructure was incorporated into epoxy resins (EP) to enhance the flame retardancy and toxicity suppression of the EP matrix.The cone calorimeter results showed that introduction of polyphosphazene nanostructures significantly reduced the total heat release and peak heat release rate of EP.In addition, the thermogravimetric analysis/infrared spectrometry analysis results indicated that the amount of organic volatiles and toxic carbon monoxide of EP was remarkably reduced.The synergistic effect between flame retardants and polyphosphazenes were main causations for these properties improvement.
