Synthesis of a Novel Self-Catalysed Flame Retardant and its Application in PP Composites
A novel inorganic-organic hybrid and self-catalysed triazine charring-foaming agent (FR-MO) was prepared.The flame retardancy of flame-retardant polypropylene was investigated using flammability tests and cone calorimeter measurements.The results showed that the intumescent flame retardant with ammonium polyphosphate/FR-MO mass ratio (3/1) could significantly improve the flame retardancy of intumescent flame-retardant polypropylene composites, and the highest limiting oxygen index value and UL-94 V-0 rating was reached.The peak heat release rate and total heat evolved remarkably decreased.
