Study on Flame Retardancy of Ammonium Polyphosphate/Montmorillonite Nanocompound Coated Cellulose Paper

  Natural cellulose paper was flame retarded by using ammonium polyphosphate/montmorillonite (APP/MMT) nanocompound through coating method.Their morphologies were assessed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), chemical structure by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), thermal stability by thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) and fire retardancy by 45° horizontal burning test.The results showed that the thermal stability and flame retardancy of papers whose surface coated by APP solution were enhanced obviously.And the samples of two formulations were self-extinguishing.
