Simultaneously Enhanced Flame Retardancy, Smoke Suppression, Acid and Water Resistance of HIPS/MH Composite Induced by Expandable Graphite
This paper investigated the effect of expandable graphite (EG) on the fire behavior, acid and water resistance of flame-retarded high impact polystyrene/magnesium hydroxide (HIPS/MH) composite.It is discovered that the presence of suitable amount of EG can simultaneously enhance flame retardancy, smoke suppression, acid and water resistance of the HIPS/MH composite remarkably.The flame-retarded HIPS/MH/EG composite exhibits excellent acid and water resistance, while the flame retardancy of HIPS/MH composite with identical loading of flame retardant decline noticeably in the presence of acid or water.
