Synergism of Molybdenum Trioxide in Expandable Graphite Systems for Halogen-Free Flame Retardant Polyolefins

  The expandable graphite (EG) flame retardant systems composed by magnesium hydroxide (MH) and EG was used to prepare halogen-free flame retardant polyolefins, the compositess LOI could up to 28.2% but which failed to pass the UL94 test.After added only 1 phr molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) the composites could reach UL94 V-0 level.The Synergism of MoO3 was studied by TGA, SEM, XRD and CONE.
