Preparation of Different Size Expandable Graphite and its Influence on Combustion Performance and Physicomechanical Property of Polyurethane Foam
A series of different size expandable graphite (EG) and tripolyphosphate (STPP) modified expandable graphite (EGp) were prepared and incorporated into rigid polyurethane foam (RPUF) to improve the foam flame retardancy. The size effect of those flame retardant (FR) on thermal stability, combustion performance, mechanical property and thermal conductivity of RPUFs composites were investigated. Results indicated that EG and EGp can significantly enhance the thermal stability and fire resistance of RPUFs, and it increases with the increasing EG, EGp size.Especially, addition of EGp and APP showed synergistic effect. When the mass ratio between APP and EGpwas controlled as 1∶1, 80RPUF/10EGp/10APP composite provided the maximum LOI value, lowest heat release rate and the total heat release.80RPUF/20EGp80 and 80RPUF/10EGp80/10APP owned the best compression strength due to the same size effect between APP and EGp80.
