The Investigation of Water Blown Rigid Polyurethane Foams Loading Multiple Flame Retardants
Modifiedexpandable graphite (MEG) was prepared using titanate to improve the interfacial compatibility with Rigid Polyurethane Foams (RPUF).Amino resin, ammonium polyphosphate (APP) and dimethyl methyl phosphate (DMMP) were compounded with MEG/RPUF to ameliorate the quality of swollen char.The fire and mechanical properties were studies through apparent density testing, compression strength testing, oxygen index,cone calorimeter and stereo microscope (SEM).The optimal formulation of flame retardant RPUF was obtained.It showed 30-phr DMMP/ 4-phrAPP/ 16-phr MEG/ 20-phr amino resin/ RPUF had practical value.Its oxygen index reached 29.4 % and the compression strength was 330 kpa.Compared to pure-RPUF, the oxygen index increased by 42.0 % and the compression strength increased by 94.1%.
