Synthesis and Properties of Two Novel Biomass Benzoxazines

  Two novel biomass benzoxazines (DPA-F-BOZ and PTL-F-BOZ) have been successfully prepared in this article.Their structures were characterized by FTIR and 1H-NMR.The curing process was determined by non-isothermal DSC and two polybenzoxazine resins (PDPA-F-BOZ, PPTL-F-BOZ) were prepared.The thermal stability of two polybenzoxazines was analyzed by TGA.In N2 atmosphere,T5% of PDPA-F-BOZ resin was 338℃, and the char yield at 800℃ was 50%;The temperature of T5% of PPTL-F-BOZ resin was 372℃, and the char yield at 800℃ was as high as 65%.Their flame-retardant properties were also investigated using vertical burning tests(UL-94) and limiting oxygen index(LOI).Among them, there was no grade in the vertical burning tests for PDPA-F-BOZ, and the LOI was only 27.4.However, PPTL-F-BOZ had been reached V1 rating in UL-94, and the LOI was as high as 36.2.
