Flammability and Mechanical Property of Amino Benzene Sulfonic Acid Intercalated Layered Double Hydroxides/Intumescent Flame RETARDANT Polypropylene System
Amino benzene sulfonic acid intercalated layered double hydroxides (AB-LDHs) was prepared by ion-exchange method.According to Fourier transform infrared spectroscope (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction(XRD), amino benzene sulfonic acid was successfully intercalated into LDHs.Then AB-LDHs was introduced into polypropylene/intumescent flame retardant (PP/IFR) system by melt compounding. The synergistic effect of AB-LDHs and IFR was investigated.Cone calorimeter test (CONE) and mechanical test showed that when 2phr IFR was substituted by same dose of AB-LDHs in PP/IFR system, the composites showed the best flame retardancy and mechanical property.
