The Project of Collecting Historic Data of Old Scientists Academic Life--Brief history, status, and outlook
The project of Collecting Historic Data of Old Scientists Academic life (the collecting project, for short) has been carried out since 2010 in China.By the end of June, 2018, there have been 512 distinguished scientists or scientist groups that were initiated by the collecting projects, with a collection of more than 100,000 original materials, 250,000 digitized materials,and 13,000 hours of audio and video data, which outcomes remarkable achievements, including the accumulation of scientific and technological historical data of China, the research on the growth of scientific and technological talents,and the publicity of scientific and technological figures.It also takes the lead in establishing a set of standards in China, which has led the community to pay more attention to the standard collection and preservation of data of scientists,engineers, and other professionals.In this paper the origin, development status, practical experience of project management and development prospect of the collecting project are analyzed and introduced, some of which may be useful in the organization and management of large projects of social science and history program.
