Induction Logging Calibration Method Based on Apparent Conductivity Function Theory and Its Application

Based on the apparent conductivity function theoryJ, an innovative induction logging calibration method, i.e., electric field calibration, is proposed.Combining induction numerical modeling response with actual measurements, this method is to establish equations containing the calibration coefficients (i.e., multiplying factor and additive factor), and to derive the calibration coefficients by making the electric field intensity (or induction potential) measured from the induction logging tool in the standard calibration medium with two different conductivities converted into the standard electric field intensity (or induction potential) by the numerical simulation. The electric field intensity (or induction potential) obtained from actual logging can be converted into a standard field intensity (or induction potential) using the calibration coefficients;the true formation resistivity can also be derived using the method of integral equation of apparent conductivity function value containing the true conductivity and iterative inversion. The actual induction log data processing shows that this calibration method overcomes the influences of the traditional induction logging calibration loop parameters and the skin effect, and also address the issue of the inaccuracy of the imaginary part signal obtained from the traditional calibration method, improving the measurement accuracy of induction logging conductivity.
