Big Data and Cloud Computing oriented Reversible Steganography in Encrypted Images
The demand for security and privacy of cloud data has promoted the rise of data encryption in cloud computing and signal processing on ciphertext domain. That also puts forward a new challenge to data hiding:Most of the reversible steganography methods in the plaintext domain do not work in the cipher text because of the changing of data features. Thus, the research of reversible steganography in encrypted multimedia becomes one of key issues about data hiding in cloud environment.Orienting big data and cloud computing, this paper proposes a reversible steganographic scheme in encrypted images which offers high payload and error-free data extraction. The cover image is partitioned into non-overlapping blocks and multi-granularity encryption is applied to obtain the encrypted image. The data hider pre-processes the encrypted image, and randomly selects two basic pixels in each block to estimate the block smoothness and indicate peak points.Additional data are embedded into blocks in the sorted order of block smoothness by using local histogram shifting under the guidance of the peak points. At the receiver side, image decryption and data extraction is separable and can be free to choose.Compared to previous approaches, the proposed method is simpler in calculation while offers better performance:larger payload, better embedding quality, and error-free data extraction as well as image recovery.
