Textile-Based Passive RFID Tag with Text-Meandered Structure

RFID (radio frequency identification) technology is an automatic identification method, transferring object data wirelessly, and can be used in security, healthcare and biomedical applications.Wearable RFID tag gives the object a unique ID card so that they can be read and traced. In this paper, a design of textile-based RFID tag with text-meandered structure is presented. The tag comprised three alphabet texts with a small size of 64mm × 35mm × 0.78mm and was optimized to provide a conjugate match to the RFID chip impedance at the operation frequency, 915MHz.The single-ended probe method was used to test the input impedance of the tag antenna by the vector network analyzer. In addition, the measured maximum read range results of the tag achieved up to 15.5m in free space, which was measured by the ultra-high frequency reader.
