A Stretchable Woven Fabric Circuit: Fabrication and Application

  Flexible circuit which has good sensitivity and conductive stability under large deformation is one of the most important conditions to achieve widely acceptance of wearable electronic devices.This study presents a way of manufacturing flexible woven circuit by embedding elastic yarns and silver coated conductive yarns into fabrics.Due to large-deformation capability of the fabric circuit, the packaged fabric sensing network could remain electrical integrity with a maximum strain of 37%, and withstand a fatigue life of at least 10,000 cycles under 30% strain.The fabric circuit also shows a good applicability that a smart garment integrated the assembly can be quite sensitive in detection of skin temperature, without error caused by the conductive tracks and circuit joint.
