Bifurcation Control of a Duffing Oscillator Using Fuzzy Logic Control Method

  In the present paper,the application of a fuzzy logic controller to a nonlinear system with bifurcation phenomenon is discussed.Bifurcation can cause instability in a nonlinear system by suddenly changing the output of the system with a gradual change in bifurcation parameters,which pushes the system towards alternate unstable or undesirable stable points.Hence,the fuzzy logic controller is designed in order to prevent the system deviating to these points.The basic idea in using fuzzy logic control(FLC)method for controlling a system with bifurcation is obtaining the control actions in a simple and linguistic way in order to keep the process far from the bifurcation or instability points.The fuzzy logic control method is applied to a forced Duffing oscillator that is characterized with bifurcation.Simulation results validate the application of the proposed method in avoiding the system reaching bifurcation and unstable conditions.
