Debonding detection for rectangular CFSTs based on controlled acoustic reflection
The debonding detection technique for concrete-filled steel tubes(CFSTs)is still a challenging problem, especially for rapid detecting of CFSTs in service.A fast and nondestructive testing(NDT)method for rectangular CFSTs interface bonding integrity is proposed. The Giant Magnetostrictive Material(GMM)transducer placed on the outersurface of steel tube generates the controlled acoustic wave under the input of sweep signal. Then the reflection wave is received by the microphone which is set close to the GMM transducer.Based on frequency domain features, debonding status can be obtained from the reflection sound.Different debonding depth and size are designed in experiments to verify the effectiveness of the inspection technique.Experiments results demonstrate that the proposed approach can detect the in service CFSTs interface debonding rapidly and effectively.
