Operational modal analysis using power spectrum density transmissibility(PSDT):experimental verification
Due to the robustness to the characteristics of natural input, power spectral density transmissibility(PSDT)has been regarded as a good candidate for operational modal analysis(OMA).Different from conventional transmissibility driven operational modal analysis(TOMA),PSDT can be applied to extract modal properties from the vibration measurements under a single operational loading condition. The aim of this study is to summarize the rationale behind TOMA using PSDT and to briefly introduce its implementation procedure. One limit theorem was used to elucidate the unique property of PSDT function at the system poles. On the basis of such property, the modal frequencies were extracted by observing signal-based features directly, while the mode shape was obtained by employing SVD technique for PSDT matrix.Filed test of a simply supported beam and an arch bridge subjected to ambient excitation was employed as a case study to illustrate the efficiency of the techniques.
