Time Reversal Based Rock Bolt Pre-load Monitoring with Active Sensing Approach Using Piezoceramic Transducers

  Rock bolts are the reinforcement tool for the integration of tunnels,mining,geotechnical,coal and foundation engineering.Loading status of rock bolts is incredibly important for the safety of structures.Accidents which caused by load degradation will be avoided via effective monitoring of rock bolt loading level.Therefore,it is vital to monitoring the load status of rock bolts.In this paper,a feasible rock bolt loading status detection method,which based on time reversal approach,was proposed by the authors.A smart washer(new transducer device which made by embedded Lead Zirconate Titanate into a couple washer)which works as a actuator was fabricated on the end of rock shaft of the specimen and a piezocramic transducer which work as an sensor was bonded onto the anchor plate.With the help of time reversal technic,the Signal to Noise Ratio(SNR)can be improved tremendously under complicity interface of rock bolt working environment especially when the rock bolt close to failure.The proposed method provide an innovation mean to measure the loading level of rock bolt.By employed this approach,the load degradation process can be clearly reflect.
