Development of a high resolution optical inertial sensor
In this paper,we present an optical inertial sensor for application of active vibration and precise seismic measurements. The sensor includes a homemade optical readout which has a resolution below 1 pm/rtHz at 1 Hz,and a mechanical part which has a fundamental resonance frequency at 0.28 Hz.The sensor is mounted inside a vacuum chamber so that it is insensitive to air fluctuation.Experimental results show that the developed inertial sensor outperforms the resolution of the best commercial instruments in a frequency range between 0.1 Hz and 30 Hz.
