Behaviour of buckling-restrained brace with gapped tendon protections
The paper proposes a buckling restrained brace with gapped tendon protections(GT-BRB),which was tested under cyclic cyclic loading to investigate the performance of GT-BRB.The results shows that the GT-BRB exhabits rather well energy dissipation and secondary stifness under large axial deformation.Furthermore, the residual deformation of the GT-BRB is less than conventional BRBs,and can be controlled by adjusting the stiffness ratio between the gap-tendons and the core BRB.A series parametric analysises(gap-tendons properties, the aforementioned stiffness ratio),were conduated in the paper. The simulation results shows that both the hysterestic loop of GT-BRB and the activation displacement of the secondary stiffness are affected by the preset gap and the stiffness of gap-tendons.
