A new design response spectrum for isolated structure and synchronous design method

  The existing design method for isolated structure is complicated and a large number of calculations are inevitable.In addition,the design response spectrum(DRS)according to the existing code does not apply to the isolated structures.We put forward a new design response spectrum for isolated structure(I-DRS)and synchronous design method based on that.The seismic response of a single-mass isolated structure model was calculated by equivalent linearization method and time history analysis method according to the seismic design code.The results showed that the deviation of these two methods is large and the site classification has some influences on the seismic response of the isolated structure.Based on site classifications,the I-DRS was proposed.In view of I-DRS,the synchronous design method for isolated structures was put forward.By means of the new proposal,the problems were well solved.The design method for isolated structure could be simplified and the I-DRS could be used in the seismic isolation design.Taking an actual project for example,the synchronous design method and the I-DRS were safe and efficient.
