Towards broadband seismic isolation systems
Isolation from seismic vibrations is a major preoccupation in many fields, for example,to ensure the safety of ground-based infrastructures,to allow conducting precise experiments,or to manufacture small components. When a high level of isolation is required, especially at low frequency, seismic isolation has to be conducted actively. In this paper,we propose to control the motion of a single degree-of-freedom(dof)structure using a homemade interferometric inertial sensor.Experimental results show that the proposed isolation system is capable of reducing the transmission of seismic vibration by up to three orders of magnitudes in a frequency range from 10 mHz to 10 Hz.
