Parameters design and performance analysis of parallelconnected viscous mass damper for vibration control of stay cables

Parallel-connected viscous mass dampers(PVMD)are a kind of tuned inerter-based dampers(TIBDs)that can be utilized to mitigate vibration of structures.Recently, some researchers have tried to introduce TIBDs into the yield of vibration control of stay cables. This paper depict the parameters design process of PVMD,as well as traditional linear viscous damper(VD),to reduce the vibration of cables, and make a comparison between them. The study is conducted based on two cables with a fundamental frequency of 0.54 Hz and 1.03 Hz respectively.
