Element oriented hybrid simulation for frame structures
Substructure hybrid simulation is an effective method to evaluate dynamic response of large scale and complicate structures. However, there are still some errors haunt hybrid simulation, one of which is concerning the boundary condition. To improve the simulation accuracy and investigate the local response as well as the global response, structure finiteelement(FE)model is adopted to represent the whole structure, and element oriented hybrid simulation for frame structures is proposed.First of all,the framework of element oriented hybrid simulation for frame structures was illustrated,in which any beam-column element can be chosen as an experimental substructure,as shown in Figure 1.Secondly,the target structure was introduced and the test specimen was described.Thirdly, three actuators experimental setup and the hybrid testing system were introduced. Finally, substructure hybrid simulation were carried out for a two-bay three-story frame. The results show that the framework of element oriented hybrid simulation is effective, and it is flexible for the section of specimen. The boundary condition of a plan column can be roughly realized by threeexperimental setup,it can be used for constant or varying axial force member loading.
