Smart graphene film based on FBG sensor for on-line icing monitoring and de-icing of wind turbine blade

  The icing of wind turbine blades seriously affects the efficiency of power generation and even causes the damage of the wind turbine structures.Using the superior electrical and thermal conductivity of graphene and the high sensitivity fiber Bragg grating temperature sensors,this paper developed a smart film to detect and melt ice.In which,the FBG is used to detect the icing of wind turbine and the graphene film is used to melt the ice.A series experiments are conducted to illustrate the icing detection and de-icing ability of the developed smart film.Results show that icing signals can be accuracy detected under different ice thickness and various ambient temperature.Furthermore,the effect of melting ice under different power is compared,and the feasibility of using graphene as heating element is verified.
