Applications of vision-based systems for bridge deformation measurement
Vision-based systems offer a promising way for displacement measurement and receive increased attention in civil structural monitoring. This study investigates the potential of consumer-grade cameras for bridge deformation monitoring. The system is firstly validated in laboratory conditions to study the sensing accuracy of three representative tracking methods. Then a field monitoring test is performed on a short-span railway bridge using the same camera system.Analysis results indicate that the system based on a consumer-grade camera could provide accurate deformation data in field testing.
