Structural damage identification based on extended ellipsoidal outer-bounding set-membership estimation

  For the structure damage identification problems under the unknown-but-bounded(UBB)noise,an extended ellipsoidal outer-bounding set-membership estimation algorithm is proposed.The state vector of the extended set-membership filtering(SMF)is composed of structural damage parameters and motion states variables.In recursive algorithm,the ellipsoid sets are used to describe the state uncertainties and to bound the process and observation noises.The inversion results provide a feasible set of the system state,and the centre of the feasible set gives a point estimate of the structural damages.The numerical simulation results show that the proposed set-membership filter algorithm can accurately identify structural damages in the absence of statistical characteristics of observed noise.
