Observability and identification of damage-healing hysteretic model

  Recent advances in the development of self-healing materials have highlighted the need for accurate modelling of the self-healing mechanism.To this end,the damage-healing hysteretic model is derived to describe the nonlinear behaviour of structures with self-healing material by introducing additional operators to the Bouc-Wen model.When the model is used as a representation of a real structure,it is important to precisely identify the model parameters to reduce the pertaining uncertainties.In this work,the nonlinear observability methods and the concept of non-smooth observability are utilized to analyze the observability of the model.The Unscented Kalman filter(UKF)and the recently suggested Discontinuous Unscented Kalman filter(DUKF)are implemented to identify the model,and the superior performance of the DUKF for parametric identification of non-smooth systems is highlighted.
