Spurious mode distinguish by eigensystem realization algorithm through moving data

  Modal parameter identification is an important technique in the structural health monitoring(SHM)for civil engineering.Among the identification methods,Eigensystem realization algorithm(ERA)is well developed,which has been used to many practical aerocraft engineering.However,the environment is very complicated for the civil engineering,which can add the noises into the procedure of identification.Then the spurious mode would be generated.This paper presented a new method to distinguish the spurious mode using ERA.First,the moving data is used to ERA,where every two data sequences have one time step shift.Then the Hankel matrices constructed by the moving data can generate many group modal parameters.The spurious modes in these group parameters are not stable.For this characteristic,a modified stabilization diagram called moving data diagram is proposed,which combines the traditional stabilization diagram.The moving data diagram shows the mode variation along the different choice of Hankel matrices,which indicates whether the mode is spurious or not.The traditional stabilization diagram helps to determine the concerned truncated order before moving data diagram is implemented.Finally,a numerical example is used to verify the proposed method,and white noises are added.The results show that the proposed method can exhibit the spurious mode variation and distinguish the spurious modes.
