Damage evaluation for RC buildings using seismic response data
Efficient and quantitative damage inspection is essential for safety identification of existing structures during an earthquake event. This paper proposes a scheme for assessing the damage condition of RC buildings using seismic response data in terms of a relationship between the mass-normalized force and deformation of an equivalent single degree of freedom system, which allows for a quick diagnosis of the structural condition.Validity of the procedure is illustrated based on an actual recorded data and field survey result from an 8-story RC building during 2011 Tohoku earthquake.
