Bridge damage detection based on the analysis of deflection influence line
A study on the analysis of deflection influence line for bridge damage detection is present in this paper. In order to quantify the damage extent,a correlation of the change of global stiffness matrix and DIL caused by structural damage is established and derived in detail.A numerical simulation example of detecting a simply supported beam damages under the influence of noise is presented then. From the analysis it is shown that damages can be accurately identified, located and quantified using the proposed method.Furthermore, the method proposed herein is validated through a series of moving vehicle experiments on a simply supported bridge model in laboratory.Different vehicle conditions such as vehicle weights and velocities are considered.Experimental results demonstrate that the efficiency of the proposed method for bridge damage detection. At last, limitations of the method, recommendations, and future work are addressed.
