Strain-based structural operational modal analysis
This paper attempts to perform operational modal analysis of structures using the strain responses.The strain based vibration differential equation is derived according to the relationship between strain and displacement.Subsequently,the strain state equation is discretized from continuous time state model.The Covariance-driven stochastic subspace method is used to identify the system matrix and the observation matrix,and then the modal parameters of the structure are extracted using the strain responses under operational conditions.The feasibility of the proposed method is verified by the strain responses recorded from ambient vibration tests of a scale model of Binzhou Yellow River Bridge model in laboratory.
