Eco-Planning of Mountainous Cities with Wind Environment Optimization--A Case Study of Qijiang East New Town in Chongqing
The wind environment in mountainous cities closely relates to the temperature distribution, pollutant dilution and thermal comfort in the urban regions. In this paper, the planning of a new city in the mountainous city Chongqing has exemplified CFD numerical simulation aided eco-planning based on wind environment optimization. To a large-scale extent, the wind environment under both static and prevailing wind conditions has been simulated, followed by the design of main green corridors according to the prevailing wind environment and the local circulation characteristics under static wind conditions, thereafter the new city is divided into different clusters by the main corridors. To continue with, this paper has proposed the spatial planning and wind environment control measures in the planned land use layout, in accordance with the characteristics of the wind environment of each cluster. In this case, the planning and design built on wind environment optimization from the whole city to each cluster can also provide a reference for the eco-planning and design of other mountainous regions.
