Preliminary study on exploitation plan of the mega hydropower base in the lower reaches of Congo River
There is little study on the hydropower exploitation plan on other sections of the lower reaches of Conge River beyond Inga hydropower project(HPP).Based on the topographic and hydrological data of the basin, the exploitation plan of the lower reaches of the Congo River is studied.Preliminarily, it is proposed to exploit three-cascade hydropower stations.The Grand Inga hydropower project(HPP) is the core of the mega hydropower base.The full supply level(FSL) of reservoir, installed capacity and regulation performance of the Grand Inga HPP are further studied.The main advantages and problems of the high and low dam schemes of the Grand Inga Hydropower Project are compared, as well as their effects on the overall development of the hydropower base.Besides, the installed capacity is optimized, based on the load characteristic.Through the simulation of cascade hydropower operation and comprehensive analysis, the project scale and implementation sequence is proposed.Then the influence of hydropower development on social economy, energy supply and emission reduction is analyzed.Finally, the better mega hydropower base exploitation scheme of the lower reaches of the Congo River is proposed.
