Profiling power demand with the electrification of transport and domestic heating
This paper examines the impact on power system generation requirements of converting a proportion of transport requirements to the use of electric vehicles and domestic heating to the use of heat pumps. The daily profiles of the associated electricity demands are developed and combined to establish the total demand for a system of the size of the UK.The paper illustrates how demand profiling could be used to reduce the impact on generation capacity requirements and minimise costs. The associated market and control infrastructure to implement a system is outlined.
