Research on the performance of wind supercharged solar chimney power plant

  In this study, a model of wind supercharged solar chimney power plant (WS-SCPP) was proposed by introducing the unpowered wind pressure wheel in.Based on the same scale of Spanish solar chimney power station (SCPP), modeling and simulation of WS-SCPP was carried out by Fluent.The flow field characteristics of WS-SCPP were analyzed then.Subsequently, the comparison between WS-SCPP and SCPP was conducted.The results show that, with the help of the unpowered wind pressure wheel, the airflow velocity and mass flow rate in WS-SCPP are higher than that in SCPP, but the maximum temperature difference of airflow is smaller.Besides, the differential pressure is greatly enhanced.It is found that the turbine shaft power of WS-SCPP is increased by 19.23 kW from 37.8 kW of SCPP, the growth is 50.9%.Generally,the wind supercharging synergistic technology is one of the effective ways to improve the power generation efficiency and realize the commercial application of SCPP.
