Study on the performance of yak fibers of different ages from Yushu

　　In order to study the performance of yak fibers and make full use of yak fibers, theproperties including configuration of surface, length, diameter, fineness, tensile behavior, friction performance and grease were tested and studied.The yak fibers are all from the neck part of the cows with ages of one, three, five and six in Yushu.From the test results, the grease content of one year old yak fibers in Yushu is the lowest.The length of one year old yak fibers in Yushu is the longest and the value is 23.02 mm.The diameter of three years old yak fibers in Yushu is the finest and the value is 16.16 um.The fineness of three years old yak fibers in Yushu is the least and the value is 3.14 dtex.The configuration of surface of five years old yak fibers in Yushu is the optimal.The friction effect of five years old yak fibers in Yushu is up to the maximum and the value is 10.68 %.The breaking strength of six years old yak fibers in Yushu is up to the maximum and the value is 1.48 cN/dtex.
