Preparation of hydrophobic SiO2/TiO2 composite aerogel and its photocatalytic
In this paper, SiO2 wet gel prepared by sol-gel method using methyl trimethoxy silane (MTMS) as precursor and methanol (MeOH) as solvent and nano TiO2 were mixed.Then the hydrophobic SiO2/TiO2 composite aerogels were prepared by atmospheric pressure drying, and the structure and morphology of the composite aerogels were characterized by SEM, XRD,FT-IR, TG, and BET.The photocatalytic property and hydrophobicity of the composite aerogels were studied.The results indicated that SEM showed that the composite aerogels had three-dimensional network porous structure with nanoscale pores and the TiO2 was dispersed uniformly in aerogels.XRD and FT-IR confirmed the successful preparation of SiO2/TiO2 composite aerogels, and TG showed that the SiO2/TiO2 composite aerogel had good thermal stability.The specific surface area of the SiO2/TiO2 composite aerogel was 479.79m2/g.The SiO2/TiO2 composite aerogel showed good hydrophobicity with water contact angle of 153.5°, and excellent photocatalytic performance with photocatalytic degradation rate of methylene blue of 98.13% after 3h UV illumination.
