The Liverworts and Hornworts of Guiyang in Guizhou Province, Southwest China
Guiyang city, located on the eastern slope of the Yunnan-Guizhou plateau, is the capital of Guizhou Province, Southwest China.Over the years, field investigation were held by a limited number of bryologists and related scholars, therefore, the bryophytes of Guiyang poorly known.As a result, records of liverworts and hornworts in Guiyang, are scattered in various literature.In this paper, the first catalogue of Guiyang liverworts and hornworts includes 93 species, subspecies and varieties in 41 genera and 29 families from the two phyla, based on data from field surveys.Six species, which are Cephalozia macounii, Lejeunea obscura, Metzgeria consanguinea, Nardia assamica, Plagiochasma appendiculatum and Scapania curta, are reported new to Guiyang.The dominant families are Lophocoleaceae (9 species), Marchantiaceae (8 species), Aytoniaceae (7 species),Jungermanniaceae (7 species), Frullaniaceae (7 species), and Lejeuneaceae (7 species).The largest genera are Marchantia (8 species), Frullania (7 species), Calypogeia (6 species) and Porella (6 species).Twelve families are represented by a single species.Twelve distribution types are recognized.The East Asian type is the main one (26,32.1%) and North Temperate is the next one (23, 27.7%).Overall, the temperate geographical elements (49, 60.5%)are the principal components, followed by the tropical elements (24, 30%).
