The Effectiveness of the 45+ Life Design Program
1 Introduction The average lifespan in Taiwan has risen from 75.9 years in 1999 to 80 years in 2016 (Accounting and Statistics, 2017), and public servants are the highest group of retirees at 50 (11.99%) followed by those above 65 (11.89%).As for employees of private corporations, the largest percentage of retirees range from 55 to 64 years of age (60.1%), followed by those 45 to 54 years of age, who account for 27.4% of the total;retirees above the age of 65 account for 9.1%.Generally speaking, the average age of retirees is 58.6 years (Accounting and Statistics,2017).When comparing the age of retirement and average remaining lifespan of people, it can be inferred that regardless of background, retirees typically have a minimum of more than 20 years of life left to live at the time of retirement. There has, however, been little research regarding this period in life, and investigations have found that more than 30% of people are not prepared for it.
