1 Introduction: New Developments in Automated Guided Vehicle Systems and Opportunities For Service Systems Personal service systems, for example in the field of healthcare, are increasingly opening up for technological and innovative problem-solving approaches.Currently, these are, in particular, IT-based solutions, such as electronic nursing planning and documentation systems, which provide important information to the affected nursing staff.Mobile robots and automated guided vehicle systems (AGV), on the other hand, have so far mainly been operated in separate fields with only authorised and instructed persons.Since both the investment and maintenance costs are immense, their use has so far mostly been limited to large hospitals (Ullrich G, 2011).
