In the second half of 2013, President Xi Jinping raised two international initiatives-Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road respectively during his visit to Kazakhstan, a Central Asian country,and Indonesia, a Southeastern Asian country.Since then, The Belt and Roadhas been scaled to a national strategy.
