A Review of Ambient Noise Seismic Interferometry and Its Applications in Near Surface
Seismic interferometry was proposed for obtaining information hidden in relatively complex-looking waveforms recorded in two points. It is fast expanding and the relative theories have been developed since1968 when Claerbout published his classical paper on seismic interferometry. We briefly introduced the development history of seismic interferometry and its near-surface applications. The key to successfully reconstructing the field by seismic interferometry is the revival of Greens function, so we summarized the representations of Greens function and the procedures of processing the noise records. We briefly compared the differences between seismic interferometry studies of the near surface and the crust and mantle. Finally, based on the development of the seismic interferometry, we gave some suggestions for further development and research of the seismic interferometry in near surface.
