A Comparison of the B-Field and dB/dt Responses of Grounded-Wire TEM
To study the sensitivity of the B-field and dB/dt responses of grounded-wire TEM, we have compared them for 1D results. The modeling results indicated that the B-field data was generally easier to interpret than dB/dt data, since the larger amplitude generally reflected the conductive zones. From the analysis of response characteristics of the B-field data and dB/dt data, we conclude that the B-field data attenuates slowly than dB/dt data in the late time interval, which is better for the detecting the large-depth conductive anomalies. Moreover, the ratio of the signal to the noise for the conductive target is significantly enhanced in the B-field data, while the dB/dt response is reduced to less than the noise level.
