Theoretical Investigation of Low Conductive NAPL Using (AVO) Analysis of GPR Data
Non aqueous phase liquid is one of major problems of water contamination which are bothering people Theoretical modeling is important to confirm the feasibility of the geophysical survey.Numerical models of non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) contaminated soils were used to test the applicability of using amplitude variation with offset (AVO) analysis on ground penetrating radar (GPR) data for defining NAPL in the vadose zone, and in wet sands. We tried to cover only low conductive NAPL, also associated with low density. The reflection pattern has been be different dramatically when the contents of water and NAPL change during the model process,In our case the wet and dry sand were introduces in our model which changed two major phenomena, i.e, one is the wave pattern, implying there was a slight phase shift in the wave, while the other was reflection pattern in the model. Our results demonstrate that GPR Avo analysis can be as effective for LNAPL as it is for NAPL but it will be confirmed after physical experiment and field data analysis.
