Co-operation, International Conventions and Global Disasters and Challenges:Some Reflections about Intangible Heritage,Policy and Relevant UNESCO Tools from A Western European Interface

In this paper, I discuss some recent developments and challenges of heritage policy and politics, in relation to safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, memory, minorities, dangers and other problems. It is the perspective from a (scholar and an institution-FARO-in an entity of a federal) state in Western Europe that is today highly committed to the global movement for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and to implementing and co-constructing UNESCO policy. The mobilisation of reflexive cultural (heritage) studies and a personal view on the development of UNESCO conventions and programs results in six suggestions.
