Leveraging Compressive Sensing for Mobile Target Localization in Wireless Sensor Networks
Many applications in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) depend heavily on the availability and accuracy of mobile target positions.According to existing approaches, it is necessary to collect, store and process a mass of data to achieve accurate localization. To address this problem, we develop a novel mobile target localization approach based on compressive sensing (CS) techniques. The intuition underlying our design is motivated by the observation that the speeds of mobile targets change slowly. We capture this observation to design a representation basis under which the signals can be sparsely represented.Furthermore, a sparse random measurement matrix is introduced that is feasible in practice.Extensive numerical evaluations with both synthetic and real mobility traces confirm the superior performance of our CS-based localization approach.
