PREPARATION AND CHARACTERISATION OF CELLULOSE NANOFIBER SHEET
In order to study the mechanical properties and fiber – fiber interaction of cellulose nanofiber(CNF)sheet,gel like CNF sheet were prepared by vacuum filtration with 1%concentration of CNF suspension.Morphology of the CNF nanosheet was analyzed using TEM and FESEM.TEM results confirmed the large aggregates consisting of web like cellulose fibrils with a length of few micrometers(~1μm),width of 10 nm and an aspect ratio of~100.Mechanical properties of the 1%concentration of CNF sheet were studied and it is seen that 1%concentration yields Youngs modulus of 7.99GPa and tensile strength of 115MPa,which was due to the strong nanofiber – nanofiber interaction.
