STUDY ON VOC RELEASE PROPERTIES OF NATURAL FIBER AND ITS REINFORCED POLYPROPYLENE COMPOSITES FOR AUTOMOBILE INTERIOR

  In view of the problem that the release of VOC in natural fiber reinforced composites exceeds the requirements,in this paper,the TG-MS was used to study the sources of the VOC,and chemical modification was adopted to reduce the release of VOC.The results show that VOC released from natural fiber reinforced polypropylene composites mainly came from the natural fibers.For the natural fibers,that cellulose,lignin and hemicellulose were related to the release of formaldehyde,and the cellulose,wax were related to the release of acetaldehyde.With the increase of the amount of antioxidant 1010,the formaldehyde,acetaldehyde,as well as the total VOC release showed a tendency to decrease gradually.When the antioxidant concentration was 0.9%,the releases of formaldehyde,acetaldehyde and the total VOC decreased by 58.52%,90.70%,74.09%,compared to the untreated.However,the flexural properties of bamboo fiber/PP composites first increased and then decreased.After the combined treatment of urea+0.3%antioxidant,the mechanical properties of the composite reached to the top,the flexural strength and flexural modulus were 84.34MPa,7.27GPa,increased by 29.71%and 35.13%respectively,compared with the untreated.
